A little bit more about Cheerleading…

Cheerleading is a brand new class here at Two Shoes Dance Academy in 2019. Our cheer students are very excited to learn stunts, flips and tosses!!

Cheer class structure commences with a warm up consisting of cardio work out and dynamic stretching, followed by stunting basics. Students will form groups to execute group lifts and other skills seen performed in Allstar cheerleading. This year, cheer will be a non-competitive recreational class. Strength conditioning is a core element of this class, helping students improve in their abilities. Cheer is a wonderful class as largely focuses on building teamwork, teaching the children to work together to execute their skills.

Leading up to productions there will be a large focus of class time on choreography and performance preparation. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain confidence, musicality and to exhibit their newly acquired skills.

Exams are not required for this class

We offer our students regular stage and performance opportunities with two productions. They have a mid-year showcase and an end year annual concert. It is always a joyous occasion for a dancer to perform for their family and friends. Cheerleading will perform a skill showcase to music.

Cheerleading originated in the United States, and remains predominantly in America, with an estimated 1.5 million participants in all-star cheerleading. However, since the global presentation of cheerleading led by the 1997 broadcast of ESPN’s International cheerleading competition, and the worldwide release of the 2000 of Bring It On, since this recent exposure, there are now an estimated 100,000 participants scattered around the rest of the globe.
