Wow 2020 has been a different year! As a community we have really pushed through to make the best of a bad situation. We are so proud of our students for getting through this together. It has also been amazing to see them grow and improve while learning through a completely foreign platform. We didn’t know what to expect for our online terms but we honestly had so much fun with you! We cannot wait to see more growth in you all next year! So now lets take you through a recap of our eventful year…
Term 1 started off as normal with our students working hard in studio on their exam technique. They are all such hard workers. We are looking forward to everyone taking their exams next year. Some highlights from this term included :
- Our frozen & musical theatre summer school
- Fun new sticker books
- Introduction of our new faculty members
In term 2, as Victoria went into lockdown, we introduced our dance at home virtual programs & workshops. Some highlights from this term included :
- We combined classes with our TSDA students from Nagoya Japan who joined us online for 3 weeks!
- We spiced classes up with some treasure hunts & challenges, a Teddy Bear Picnic, a jungle party & princess & 80s themed dress up week, EVEN some of our dads attended our online classes!
In term 3, we continued remote learning. Some highlights from this term included :
- We had fun weekly themes & online social events including a disco party, an escape room, family trivia night & bring a friend week to mix things up.
- There were more challenges & winners!
- Hip hop students danced virtually with Miss Alannah’s students from her new studio in New Zealand.
- We campaigned to see dance schools recognised in the stage restrictions.
- We created our stuck with you video montage – a memoir of our dancers time remote learning (see Youtube clip below)
In term 4, we finally got back to some in person classes! Some highlights from this term include :
- We commenced online without having certainty of what an annual production would look like this year, our students started learning Disney routines anyway!
- We opened up DANCING IN THE PARK outdoor private & group sessions!
- We reopened the studio where students have continued to rehearse for their Disney DVD Day this weekend!
WE ARE WORKING HARD BEHIND THE SCENES TO PRODUCE ANOTHER FANTASTIC YEAR PROMOTING OUR LOVE OF DANCE & FOSTERING THE COMMUNITY SPIRIT OF OUR DANCE SCHOOL FOR OUR DANCERS!
