We cannot thank you enough for the success of our production the other week. AMAZING! Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Retro Performing Arts Acts was fantastic, thanks to the hard work of our dedicated dancers, their parents and families and the Two Shoes Team. It was a wonderful celebration of our students achievements and growth this past year.
HERE ARE SOME PARENT TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR RECENT ANNUAL PRODUCTION:
“As Two Shoes continues to grow, its dancers seem to improve more and more each year. You can see the growth in them each year when you see the annual productions! We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Quality teaching instruction and a genuine love and care for the students = Very happy child and a very happy family!”
“You made a little girl’s dream come true tonight… something to be incredibly proud of and celebrated!”
“Congratulations on another hugely successful, amazing and incredible production… the night was so fabulous. I can tell how much work, blood, sweat and tears you put in to the performances and the running of the show… well done, it was incredible xxx”
“The show was amazing! Everyone I spoke to loved it! The kids were amazing!”
“So proud of my beautiful little dancer, she did so well in her dancing… loved watching her dance last night!”
That’s a Wrap! 2018
Two Shoes Dance Academy aims to create a second home for our students, where they are free to embrace their love of dance, performance and music through high quality instruction in a welcoming community. 2018 has been a year to consolidate these aims with our students, and our staff have been so impressed with the work ethic, the discipline and the behaviours expected of our dancers. We have celebrated MANY achievements this year and we look forward to continuing that trend in the years to come.
Stage Attack Competition : saw some wonderful results with Michael Ramsay’s guidance and choreography. Congratulations to Samara for 1st place with her classical ballet solo and Pei Mai and Giorgia who received a 2nd place with their contemporary duo!
Exams : A HUGE number of ballet, jazz and tap exams we’re successfully sat by our dancers in 2018. Special mention to Ella Menzies and Samara Mirembe who both passed their Level 3 Ballet exam receiving Honours with Distinction. These girls were also awarded our perpetual trophies, ‘Dancer of The Year’ & ‘Ballet Teacher’s Award’ and received a $250 scholarship each which will be deducted from their 2019 tuition! They embrace the values of our studio and are an inspiration to us all. Well deserved girls, well done! We look forward to following your achievements in the new year.
Productions : Our circus themed mid year cabaret was another success in showcasing our students talent. After lunch, dancers and their guests enjoyed circus skill based activities with a visit from the Little Devils Circus and a performance from stilt walker Emerald Jones. Our recent annual production, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Retro Performing Arts Acts, was the culmination of months of hard work, effort and energy on show for you. Well received by all, it definitely didn’t disappoint! We are still on a high from the evening at the studio!
Talent show : We held our very first Talent Show this year. Our students (and their friends/family) were invited to choreograph and/or perform an item of their choice, with or without teacher input. Due to the success of this afternoon we are keen to make this a yearly event. Many thanks to Anna Burgess for being our special guest judge, her kind mentoring and professional advice was very greatly appreciated and many thanks to ALL our gorgeous dancers for participating. It’s always an absolute delight to watch you guys do your thing!!
Other fun events we’ve held this year were the Kinder Ballet Princess Party; our Easter Disco Party; our Summer Holiday Program; and our performance showcasing our school at Footscray’s Children’s Lantern Festival.
SO, thank you again for another wonderful year and for your continued support of Two Shoes. We appreciate all you do so much!
WE ARE ALREADY WORKING HARD BEHIND THE SCENES TO PRODUCE ANOTHER FANTASTIC YEAR PROMOTING OUR LOVE OF DANCE AND FOSTERING COMMUNITY SPIRIT OF OUR DANCE SCHOOL FOR OUR DANCERS & WE CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE WHAT FUN THINGS WE HAVE PLANNED FOR 2019!
Things to expect in 2019!
We are looking forward to holding our mid year showcase at the Flemington/Kensington Bowls Club in 2019. Offering our dancers and their families the same intimate feel at a fraction of the cost compared with our mid year show in previous years. We’ll be running another Talent Show which gives our dancers the opportunity to get creative, further develop their choreography skill sets and gain extra performance experience. Along with our annual Summer School and social events including princess parties, disco parties and movie nights the dancers adore. You can expect more fantastic results from our dancers at exams and competitions and another wonderful end of year production FULL with talent. We can’t wait for another busy, successful and productive year at our studio!
Farewell to Miss Bronwyn & Miss Julia
We are sad to say goodbye to Miss Bronwyn who will be moving on to manage Dance Plus in Montmorency next year. We’d like to thank Miss Bronwyn for her short but successful time at our studio in 2018. We are excited for Miss Julia who is moving to Sydney for University! Miss Julia will still be assisting us for the month of February, helping to settle in our new ballet and musical theatre teacher (TBC) on Saturdays before she leaves! And she is also hoping to be able to assist us at our 2019 productions which should align with her breaks from Uni.
Hello Mr Michael!
We are thrilled to welcome Mr Michael into a more permanent roll in 2019 after the wonderful work he has done with the students in his private classes this year. He will be taking classes on Monday and Thursday. We look forward to having his continued expertise on the team and seeing our dancers results from his coaching.
Cheerleading at Two Shoes Dance Academy in 2019
OMG We cannot wait for the introduction of Miss Georgia’s Cheerleading class!! We are confirming a second location to open close to our current studio for our advanced acro and cheer classes in 2019.
Adult Dance Fit
We will have more adult fitness sessions on offer in 2019. With small class sizes, movement is tailored to see results you’ll love. A new online booking system is to come. And we look forward to a relaunch of our Adult Dance Fit sessions for our mummy Summer bodies in January. Watch this space! Brodie is also available for one on one training sessions in 2019, please enquire with Carla firstname.lastname@example.org or on her mobile 0403188490
Our studio and teacher availability is becoming tight especially at peak times. All private tuition will now need to be booked a term in advance. If your child is looking to pursue private lessons in 2019 we recommend you get in touch with your teachers or Carla to book in their classes ASAP.
& current students trialling new classes
We can’t tell you how important it is for you to be in close contact with your child’s dance teachers as a dance parent! Please let us know which classes your child has enjoyed in 2018 and which classes they are looking forward to in 2019. If you’d like a deeper education or understanding of their performing arts journey and/or their technical progression and skill development this year, we are here to help. If our teachers are time poor during a visit to the studio and you’d like more of a chance to speak to our teaching team, please contact Carla to arrange a phone call outside of studio hours. We are looking to offer dancers and parents teacher interviews in 2019 to continue strategically mapping out their tailored journey, to best guide them closer towards everything they’re setting out to achieve with their dance classes.
Now is a fantastic time for students to trial classes they may be interested in taking in 2019 or transition into their new classes ready for the new year. Eg. kinder students moving into prep are welcome to move into their level 1 classes, students who have sat for level 3 exams can move into level 4. It is also ok for student’s to stay in their current classes for the remainder of the year. Please speak to Carla or your teachers if you have any questions or to discuss class options.
